GREENBRIER COUNTY, W.Va. (WVDN) — On May 22, Greenbrier and surrounding areas are once again experiencing a prolonged power outage. Around 10:30 this morning, reports began pouring in from residents regarding power outages. The issue is affecting Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Monroe and Summers counties.
At the time of publication, FirstEnergy’s outage map shows 16,380 customers in Greenbrier County without power. Monroe has 2,993, Pocahontas has 1,328, and Summers has 9 affected customers. The estimated restoration time is 8 p.m.
FirstEnergy released a statement saying the outage is due to an issue with a Dominion Energy transmission line that feeds multiple Mon Power substations.
According to Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the Greenbrier County Health Department will be open to charge medical equipment on May 22 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Those in need of the service are asked to enter at the back of the building at the lower level entrance. The health department is located at 9109 Seneca Trail South in Ronceverte.
