GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) — A widespread power outage that began Tuesday evening affected Greenbrier County and portions of Monroe, Summers, and Pocahontas counties. Power was successfully restored to Greenbrier County by midday Wednesday, an earlier resolution than the initially predicted restoration time of 7 p.m.

According to a social media post from the City of Hinton in Summers County, the cause of the outage was a main transmission line failure. Unfortunately, residents across the affected areas experienced darkness overnight and into Wednesday morning. While the initial estimate suggested a lengthy restoration period, power companies worked to address the issue, bringing electricity back to Greenbrier County homes and businesses several hours ahead of schedule.

Reports indicate that while most of the affected area saw restoration by midday, some lingering outages may still exist. Residents in those areas should continue to monitor updates from their power provider.
