GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – The Greenbrier County Commission held its regular meeting on Tuesday, May, 13. The meeting opened with Kelly Banton, who led the invocation. From there, they moved on to the pledge and approved the minutes from the special meeting held in April.
Mary Ingles brought the settlement of nine estates before the Commission, which were all in order. These were approved unanimously.
Several items were under exonerations, splits, impropers and transfers, including $85.05 to the Meadow River Trail.
A proclamation for Community Education Service Week was read and signed. Andy Hoover, director of Health and Human Services, was on hand to support the proclamation. The volunteer home leadership group had a picture taken with the Commission to commemorate Community Education Service Week.
The Greenbrier County 911 tower maintenance had two bids. One is from Alpha Mechanical Services in Louisville, Kentucky. Their bid was for $5,200. $2,600 biannually, $120 per hour or $180 after hours and $0.40 per mile.
The other bid was from Adam Whanger from White Sulphur Springs. His bid was $5,285 and $125 per hour and. 70 per mile.
A decision will be made after both are considered.
Two bids were also received for Greenbrier County 911 tower grounds maintenance. Those bids were from Willis Weedwhackers from Rainelle, at $9,700 per year and $350 per hour. The second bid was from Ikes Blades of Glory, also from Rainelle. Their bid came in at $7,500 and $225 per hour.
These bids will be gone over, and the contract will be awarded afterward.
Next up was the separation of employment for Meredith Whited from the Greenbrier County Prosecutor’s Office. The date of separation was April 29, 2025, and the date of hire was Feb. 28, 2018.
The Commission then went into executive session. Upon coming out of the executive session, it was discussed and voted on for the revision of the draw request Gig Ready broadband project. This was necessary due to a missing invoice from MonPower. This is with the understanding that 75% will be reimbursed by the state. The amount of $466,578.48 was approved to pay out.
It was approved to pay draw request No. 9 in the amount of $188,237.71 with the understanding that the state will be reimbursing the money.
It was also approved to extend the time for the Gig Ready broadband project until June 2026.
The Greenbrier County Commission will meet again on May 27.
