WEST VIRGINIA (WVDN) – On May 10, WVJC School of Nursing held a pinning ceremony to recognize students’ achievements in the Online Nursing programs out of Elkins, Greenbrier, Spencer, and Logan.
Thirty-three nursing students traveled from around the state to attend the ceremony at Christ Church United Methodist, where the next generation of nurses crossed the stage and started the next chapter of their careers.
The pinning ceremony represents the transition from student nurse to professional, a significant moment in a nurse’s journey. At the ceremony, student nurses take the stage and recite the Nightingale Pledge, a traditional oath to uphold ethical patient care. Then, they are presented with a nursing pin, typically by a family member or loved one.
“This nursing pinning ceremony marks the beginning of the successful careers of our online nursing students,” said Samantha Esposito, WVJC School of Nursing Campus President. “We are thrilled to see the impact of their hard work and commitment to rural West Virginia communities.
Applications are being accepted for the next cohort of online nursing students, which will begin in September 2025. Interested applicants in Elkins, Logan, Greenbrier, and Spencer, West Virginia, and the surrounding areas are encouraged to visit wvjc.edu to start their nursing journey.
