CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – The West Virginia Grant Resource Centers are pleased to announce the launch of biweekly Outreach Hours in collaboration with the WV One Stop Business Center, an initiative of the WV Secretary of State’s office. Each month, the Grant Centers team will host one in-person session at the WV One Stop Business Center in Charleston and one virtual session to aid state businesses, nonprofits, communities, and other eligible entities with their grant-related inquiries.

Developed in collaboration with the WV One Stop Business Center and the WV Small Business Development Center (WV SBDC), this initiative aims to make key business and nonprofit resources available and accessible to more West Virginians, ensuring they have the support necessary to achieve their goals. Through Outreach Hours, the Grant Centers will unite and lend our specialized, complementary support to the WV One Stop Business Center’s comprehensive collection of resources, tools, and expertise. 

“The State of West Virginia is a wonderful partner to our Grant Centers, and we are excited to expand our impact by working with Secretary of State Kris Warner’s team. Both Marshall and WVU Grant Centers are equipped with skilled technical writers to get projects grant ready at a local, regional, and statewide level. Whether you are a leader in business, nonprofit, or local government sectors, we are here to serve,” said Sara Payne Scarbro, Co-Founder of the Grant Centers at Marshall University.

“Our team is thrilled to work with the WV Secretary of State’s Office to help identify funding opportunities and help build expertise for West Virginia small businesses, nonprofits, and other eligible organizations. WVU and Marshall are committed to aiding organizations grow and prosper,” said Dr. Liz Vitullo, Co-Founder of the Grant Centers at West Virginia University.

“I am excited about the resources that the Grant Centers bring to the WV One Stop Business Center,” said WV Secretary of State Kris Warner. “Working together, we will be better suited to help entrepreneurs get started and to help sustain them for years to come.”

Outreach Hours will be hosted on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, May 20, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (in person)
  • Tuesday, May 27, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (virtual)
  • Tuesday, June 10, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (in person)
  • Tuesday, June 24, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (virtual)
  • Tuesday, July 8, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (in person)
  • Tuesday, July 22, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (virtual)
  • Tuesday, August 12, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (in person)
  • Tuesday, August 26, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (virtual)
  • Tuesday, September 9, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (in person)
     
  • Tuesday, September 23, 2025 – 12-3 p.m. (virtual)

Entities interested in scheduling a Virtual Outreach Hours session may submit an application using the intake form. Walk-in Outreach Hours event attendees will be accommodated pending availability at the WV One Stop Business Center, located at 13 Kanawha Blvd W #201, Charleston, West Virginia.

The Grant Centers are a joint partnership between Marshall University and West Virginia University that provide free grant writing and training support to West Virginia communities and other eligible applicants as they compete for local, state, federal, and private funding opportunities. This project is funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the WV Legislature. To date, the Grant Centers have assisted West Virginians with securing nearly $44 million to support their economic, community, and workforce development projects.
