RUPERT- The Greenbrier West Lady Cavaliers continued to roll on Thursday night and defeated the Richwood Lady Jacks 17-0 to win the Region 3, Section 2 title.

With the victory, it is the Cavaliers fourth shutout in their last five games. In that fifth game, they allowed just one run.

After scoring just one run in the first inning when Kyndall Taylor was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Greenbrier West erupted for 10 runs in the second inning. They then scored five in the third and added their final run in the fourth to secure a blowout, shutout win.

Maddie Fields was 4-4 with two runs and four RBIs and is now 8-8 in her last two games. Preslee Treadway was 3-4 with a double, a run, and four RBIs. Ava Price had a 2-2, two run da, and Taylor was 2-3 with three runs knocked in.

Speaking of Taylor, she pitched three innings, allowed just one hit, and struck out six batters. She reached the milestone of 100 career strikeouts as well.

West finished with 13 hits and Richwood had just two.

West will have all next week off and plan to schedule a couple of scrimmages to stay loose. They will face either Montcalm or Mt. View in the regionals the week of May 19.
