GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – A Greenbrier County man was arrested May 1 after allegedly threatening family members with multiple weapons and damaging property during a domestic dispute, according to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department.
Jason Scott, whose age was not released, was taken into custody on May 1 and charged with domestic assault, destruction of property and brandishing, according to deputies.
The incident occurred at a residence in the Renick area. Deputies responded around 4 p.m. after a 911 caller reported two brothers fighting at the home, authorities said.
Witnesses told deputies that Scott became agitated with his mother and began yelling at her. Scott’s brother told deputies he intervened and told Scott to leave the house. Once outside, Scott allegedly grabbed a 2×4 and attempted to intimidate the brother and their mother.
Scott’s brother said he managed to take the board from him and return it to the house. Scott then allegedly picked up a shovel and again attempted to threaten the pair before briefly leaving the property.
When he returned a short time later, Scott was reportedly wielding a baseball bat and began swinging it on the front porch, breaking several wooden railings, authorities said.
Deputies later recovered the damaged railing, the 2×4 and the baseball bat as evidence. Both individuals on scene reportedly confirmed that Scott was the aggressor during the incident.
Jason Scott was taken into custody without further incident.
