MARLINTON W.Va. (WVDN) – A bird walk is planned along the Greenbrier River, in Stillwell Park, 8:30-11 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Greenbrier River Watershed Association.
Save the date and join the Watershed Association at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and muffins at the parking area closest to the park entrance. Leading this walk is Adrianne Thackery, an Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area AmeriCorps member serving with Monongahela National Forest’s Watershed Team.
Since completing their bachelor’s in environmental studies, Thackery has also served with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Georgia and a county soil and water conservation district in New York. As a naturalist, Thackery is always looking for opportunities to learn more about nature and participate in citizen science.
Birdwatchers will be looking for migrating birds, as well as year-round residents. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather. The walk will be about one mile along the river, park and the Greenbrier River Trail. In case of inclement weather cancellation, check the association’s Facebook page: facebook.com/greenbrier.
