RONCEVERTE, W.Va. (WVDN) – Candidates for mayor gathered Tuesday evening at the Ronceverte Fire Station for a community forum aimed at addressing key issues facing the city. The event provided residents an opportunity to hear directly from those vying to lead the city in the upcoming election. This event was hosted by the West Virginia Daily News.
Incumbent Deena Pack, Kimberly “Kim” Erskine, Shawn Honaker and David Withrow are the candidates for the upcoming mayoral seat.
Incumbent Mayor Deena Pack, who is seeking re-election, was joined by challengers David Withrow, Kimberly Erksine and Shawn Honaker in a moderated discussion. The forum covered a range of topics, including economic development, infrastructure improvements and public safety. Pack emphasized her administration’s efforts to revitalize downtown Ronceverte and attract new businesses. “We’ve worked hard to create an environment where businesses can thrive,” she said. “Our downtown is seeing new life, and we’re just getting started.”
Withrow, a local business owner, focused on fiscal responsibility and community engagement. “It’s time for a fresh perspective,” he stated. “I believe in transparency and making decisions that reflect the will of the people.”
Much was discussed concerning the potholes in Ronceverte, as well as the ongoing water project in the city. Several residents attended the forum, engaging in a Q&A session following the candidates’ statements. The event was livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
The mayoral election is scheduled for June 3, 2025. Early voting begins on May 20.
