OAK HILL- After losing two of their last three games and having their senior night canceled, the Greenbrier East Lady Spartans went to Oak Hill on Monday evening and walked away with an impressive 12-4 win.
With the game tied at 2-all after the first inning, Greenbrier East put up a 5-spot in the second, took all the momentum from the Lady Red Devils sails, and never looked back.
It was an important first step for the Lady Spartans who have a busy week with games remaining on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Haylee Hester, who has hit the ball extremely well the last few games, hit a 2-run home run to right field in the fifth inning that wrapped up the scoring for East and put the game completely out of reach. She finished 2-4 at the plate with a run scored and four RBIs.
Campbell Bundy hit well too and went 2-3 with a run and one knocked in. Maddie Baker has been a pleasant surprise lately and in this one was 2-4 with a run scored. Finally, Kennah Collins had a hit, scored three runs, and drove in two more.
Emily Pyles got the win in the pitcher’s circle following a solid performance. She pitched four innings, scattered six hits, three runs, and had two strikeouts.
Sadie Branch led the Red Devils (12-9) with a 2-2 day. She scored a run and drove in one as well.
The Spartans (13-8) are back on the road on Tuesday, April 29 at Princeton. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30PM.
