MARLINTON, W.Va. (WVDN) — An electrifying night of music is set for Friday, May 2, when Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line perform at the Pocahontas County Opera House. The show begins at 7 p.m.
Struthers, recognized for her compelling storytelling and energetic performances, returns with her latest album, Back to Cast Iron, which explores themes of resilience and the balance between motherhood and musicianship.
In addition to showcasing tracks from her new album, Struthers will perform a variety of music spanning her career, giving audiences the chance to experience the breadth of her artistry, from heartfelt ballads to spirited Americana tunes.
After her 2020 tour was interrupted by the pandemic, Struthers channeled her experiences into the upbeat tracks featured on the album, maintaining a connection with fans through her Patreon account.
Produced by Neilson Hubbard, Back to Cast Iron features contributions from Struthers’ husband, Joe Overton. The album combines elements of rock, honky-tonk, and soul in songs such as “Carhenge,” “Children They Need You (All Of The Time),” and the title track, “Back on the Road.”
Originally from Virginia and New Jersey, Struthers cites her father’s banjo playing and attending the Telluride Bluegrass Festival as inspirations for her decision to pursue a music career in Nashville. There, she formed The Bootleggers, followed by The Party Line, establishing a notable presence in the Americana genre.
Tickets for the performance are $10 for adults, while attendees 17 and under are admitted free, making this a family-friendly event. Tickets are available online at pocahontasoperahouse.org, at the 4th Avenue Gallery in Marlinton, or at the door on the night of the show, depending on availability.
This event is part of the Opera House Performance Series, supported by grants from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and the West Virginia Commission on the Arts. Additional support is provided by Pocahontas County Dramas, Fairs and Festivals and the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
