CHARLESTON W.Va. (WVDN) – West Virginia Health Right, the state’s oldest and largest free and charitable clinic, has been providing high-quality healthcare to more than 45,000 uninsured and underinsured West Virginians annually since 1982. Services include primary care, behavioral health, dental, vision, pharmacy, screenings, testing, and more.
Over the past decade, WV Health Right has expanded its reach through the implementation of three mobile units that bring essential services directly to underserved communities. The Mobile Dental Unit, launched in 2017 in partnership with Marshall Health, travels monthly to Boone, Clay, Logan, McDowell, and Roane counties. It has provided more than $8 million in free dental care—offering screenings, cleanings, extractions, and restorations. In July 2025, Jackson County will be added to the list of service areas. The Mobile Medical Unit was created in 2021 to provide comprehensive outreach services to underserved communities, including primary care, children’s physicals, infectious disease testing and treatment, referrals for specialty services, and more. Our newest mobile unit will be launching in July 2025, focusing on the connection between nutrition and health through a “Food as Medicine” approach.
Dr. Angie Settle, CEO of WV Health Right, extends sincere thanks to Governor Patrick Morrisey and the West Virginia Legislature for allocating an additional $1 million in funding towards free clinics offering mobile services. This critical investment supports continued outreach to rural and medically underserved populations.
“Thank you for helping us bring free dental and medical care to those in need throughout West Virginia,” said Dr. Angie Settle, West Virginia Health Right CEO. “This funding ensures our mobile units stay on the road, delivering life-saving care where it’s needed most.”
