LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – As part of its commitment to lifelong learning, Carnegie Hall offers a series of classes and workshops to enlighten and inspire learners of all ages. These unique learning opportunities are taught primarily in small group settings at the Hall. The Spring 2025 Classes & Workshops offers a Josephine Knot Market Basket workshop taught by Kathy Talley on Friday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A part of Carnegie Hall’s Appalachian Heritage Series, the Josephine Knot Market Basket class teaches students how to create a functional and beautiful basket in this beginner level class. Participants will learn basic weaving techniques to build and shape this sturdy, all-purpose carry-all. Functional design features a solid wood swing handle and a decorative Josephine knot at the center. All materials and tools needed to make this basket will be provided by the instructor. Students must be at least 16 years of age or older and no experience is necessary.
Registration is $125/members and $145/nonmembers, but scholarships are available for Greenbrier County students and participants over 50 years of age who only pay $45.
