CHARMCO- Saturday was one of those games for the Greenbrier West Lady Cavaliers where although they played hard at the start, they could technically relax a little towards the end.
West needed only three innings to dispose of the Richwood Lady Jacks 20-0 behind home runs from Brilee Redden and Brooklyn Adkins, which was an inside-the-park grand slam.
Redden’s homer got the scoring underway for the Cavaliers and the flood gates proceeded to open. The lineup came all the way back around to Redden who then tripled home Jenna Hunter for a 7-0 West lead at that point. Brooke Patterson and Preslee Treadway singled sandwiched around a walk to Maddie Fields and then Adkins slapped her grand slam to right field for a 12-o lead after one.
Diana Porter and Kyndall Taylor each doubled in the second inning as part of an 8-run frame.
Emma Edens relieved Taylor in the pitcher’s circle for the final inning and got the Lady Jacks down in order, 1-2-3 and Greenbrier West sealed their third win of the young season (3-1).
Taylor went 2-2 at the plate with a double, a run scored, and two driven in. On top of her two hits, Redden scored three times and knocked in two as well. Adkins led the team with four RBIs and Patterson and Porter also had two RBIs.
Taylor pitched two innings, scattered two hits, and struck out five.
The Lady Cavaliers will host Sherman this Monday evening at 6:00 PM.
