LEWISBURG- On Thursday, March 20, Village Caregiving’s Lewisburg office held their official grand opening and ribbon cutting at their new location on 790 S. Court Street, right beside of Greenbrier Printing.
With a presence in 20 different states, Village Caregiving (VCG) is a home care agency that offers affordable, compassionate support and assistance with daily needs, such as help with personal hygiene, light housework, meal prep, and companionship for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities.
The mission of Village Caregiving is to keep their patients in their own homes as long as possible.
Morgan Stover, the executive director for the new Lewisburg office, spoke about what VCG is and what they hope to provide for Greenbrier and some surrounding counties.
“We opened here in Lewisburg just because of the aging population and the diminishing resources. We are just trying to help fill that gapof the caregivers and people that are in need of this service,” Stover said.
“We can provide any activity of daily living. We are non-medical, but we can help write-up too so the activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting assistance, light housekeeping laundry, and companionship in case someone needs to sit with ‘mom’ while they run to the grocery store, things like that,” Stover explained.
Stover also explained how Village Caregiving cooperates with other programs as well.
Our largest program we cooperate with is the VA,” Stover said.
“So, 97 percent of our clients right now are veterans which is fantastic, and we are so happy to give back to them, but yeah the VA has that homemaker program where we are able to cooperate with them and help get some assistance in home for them,” she added.
Families obviously want to keep their loved ones home as long as they can without moving to another living facility and Stover explains that is one of the main focuses of VCG.
“It keeps them out of the nursing homes, keeps them at home longer, safer, things like that,” Stover stated.
Greenbrier County native Devin McCraw will also be in the new office. She is the Director of Operations and the RN.
“She (Devin) will be going out and doing assessments with these people. We do six-month assessments with every client that we have, so she will be going out every six months to lay eyes on them, make adjustments to their care plans if needed, and things like that,” Stover said.
She’s kind of our bridge,” Stover concluded.
