SWITZER W.Va. (WVDN) – One man was arrested following an investigation into a blaze in Switzer. The West Virginia State Police released the following information:

“On Monday, March 10, 2025, Trooper A.M. Baria and Senior Trooper Z. K. Bragg were dispatched to assist the Logan Fire Department and the WV Department of Forestry with a fire in the community of Switzer, WV. During these officers’ investigation, it was determined that the accused, Steven Mitchem (36-year-old male from Barboursville, WV), had set a fire outside, causing a hillside to burn and subsequently two abandoned structures caught fire and were burned. Steven Mitchem was taken into custody without incident and charged with one count of Setting Fire to Lands of Another.”

The Investigation is ongoing.
