ALDERSON W.Va. (WVDN) – It’s March, and The Writers Station Open Mic will finally make its 2025 debut! Organizers noted, “Bad weather caused the cancellations in January and February, but here we are, confident (mostly) that this month, we can pull it off!” Despite being the Ides of March, The Writers Station Open Mic is scheduled for March 15, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Alderson Train Depot, #1 Railroad Ave. Alderson.
All genres of original work are accepted, including poetry, fiction and nonfiction essays and memoirs. Sign-up opens at 5:30 p.m. All participants will have 3-5 minutes to read depending on the number of persons signing up.
March is full of interesting writing prompts…Pi Day on the 14th; the aforementioned Ides of March on the 15th, the date of the assassination of Julius Caesar; St.Patrick’s Day on March 17; and the Vernal Equinox on March 20. It doesn’t matter if this is your first written piece or your 200th; you are cordially invited to read aloud at this friendly, supportive venue.
The Writers Station Open Mic is scheduled every third Saturday of the month through November and is supported by Alderson Main Street. The Writer’s Station is produced by Reni Fulton and Cheryl Mansley. For more information, contact Reni Fulton via Messenger or text at 304-994-1703.
