WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – The White Sulphur Springs City Council met in regular session on Monday, Feb. 10. The meeting opened with the pledge and the approval of the minutes from the last meeting. Financial statements were read and approved.
The speed limit signs which had been discussed back in October and ordered in November were once again brought up for discussion. Mayor Glover said the signs had yet to be put up due to all the bad weather that had been affecting the area. Ryan Lockhart then spoke up with concerns. He said he doesn’t know who to blame it on, but the signs not being up are causing a problem. Lockhart noted that people are doing 40-55 mph and it’s allegedly causing pedestrians to have to jump into someone’s yard to keep from getting hit. He went on to say, “Enough is enough” and he believes the residents feel the same way. It was decided to get the signs up ASAP.
Mayor Glover reminded everyone not to park on the street for any upcoming bad weather.
The council then went into executive session. Upon returning from the executive session, the council took citizens’ comments.
A citizen expressed concern over a business that has been allowed to, as he puts it, encroach on city property. He says that is breaking the law and he’s been bringing up the issue to the council for two and a half years and he feels nothing has ever been done. Mayor Glover thanked him for his comment to which he replied, “Yeah I know you’re not going to do anything.” It was explained that this was for comments only and not resolutions.
