SUMMERSVILLE W.Va. (WVDN) – A reported missing person turned into a murder investigation over the weekend. The West Virginia State Police released the following information:
“On Friday, February 14, 2025, at approximately 6:46 pm Trooper L. L. Cox took a missing person report for a 44-year-old white male from Summersville, WV. The investigation revealed that a shooting occurred at James Pileggi’s residence located at Mount Lookout, WV.
“On Saturday, February 15, 2025, at approximately 11:30 pm the victim’s (person reported missing) deceased body was located near Tioga, WV. Members of the West Virginia State Police SRT and Crime Scene Team assisted with this part of the investigation. The victim was transported by ambulance to Summersville Memorial Hospital to be examined by a Medical Examiner. The suspect, James E. Pileggi, a 60-year-old white male from Mount Lookout, WV, was charged with first degree murder.”
