Barbara Joan Craft
Barbara Joan Craft passed away in death on February 2, 2025 – 7 days shy of her 60th birthday.
She was born February 9, 1965, in Washington, DC, to Richard and Clara Craft, who passed in 2007.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Martha; daughter and son-in-law, Rosanne and Manuel Oquendo; cousin, Sherri; nephew, Dallas; nieces, Jade and Randee; and many family and friends, who will miss her dearly.
Barbara was preceded in death by her life-long love, Randy Peyton, Rosanne’s father. In 2022, Barbara’s granddaughter, Peyton Urigo Reid-Craft, was born at 23 weeks gestation and lived for 11 days.
Throughout Barbara’s struggle with her health, she was kind and playful. She was known to bring joy to the healthcare professionals around her with her spontaneity, randomly attacking her nurses with the plush monkeys she kept bedside.
Perhaps one thing we will all miss of Barbara is her prowess in the kitchen, namely, her famous mashed potatoes. Nothing made her happier than feeding her loved ones.
Growing up in both urban and rural developments, Barbara cultivated a love for a variety of music genres that allowed her to form bonds with people of any and all backgrounds. This characteristic was shared with Randy and passed to their daughter, Rosanne.
Barbara’s kind heart was visibly demonstrated by her love of animals. Barbara had an uncanny ability to communicate with her beloved pets, and many cats were happy to call her bed home. Animals and humans alike knew that in Barbara’s presence, you could expect to be fed to your heart’s content.
At Barbara’s request, there will be no viewing or funeral arrangements.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Home Care Plus, who made it possible for Barbara to be comfortable at home throughout her many health struggles over the past 2 years, and Peyton Hospice House, who eased her suffering in her last days.
The family ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Peyton Hospice House at 1265 Maplewood Ave., Lewisburg, WV 24901.
