FAIRLEA- All-state Greenbrier East girls soccer player Ryan White has chosen her next 4-year home as she signed with Waynesburg on Friday, Feb. 7 in the Spartan Gym in Fairlea with teammates, family, and friends by her side.
White, a midfielder that landed on the 2024 all-state first team, had 22 goals and nine assists last season and helped lead the Lady Spartans to a regional final in Beckley. It was the best season the girls have had in the last decade according to her coach Mike Dotson.
She will re-unite with former teammate and good friend, Kylie Criddle at Waynesburg.
For White, her decision was based on several factors from the beauty of the campus to the closeness of the current team.
“Waynesburg has a very beautiful campus,” White said.
“I have a friend that goes there (Criddle), and she just seems so happy, and the team is super bonded together and that was something that was really important to me. I also watched a few videos, and it seems like they had a pretty successful year as well,” Criddle explained.
White has a couple things in mind when she steps on campus, and she hopes that they can help her succeed at the highest level.
“I want the team to help me grow more as a player, but I also want to help contribute my skill and help for the future.
White will begin her career as a Yellowjacket in the fall of 2025.
