Exercise Needed By Sheep
It is very important that sheep be induced or forced to take a large amount of exercise. Exercise contributes much to the health, strength and vigor of the ewes. It tends to prevent constipation and sharpens the appetite and ewes that exercise freely will approaching lambing time in much better condition to deliver their lambs than if contained in limited quarters.
Smoot High School
The Good Order League was organized from a suggestion of Mr. E. D. Smoot. The purpose of this organization is to promote better behavior and make better citizens of the young people.
Game Refuge
The establishment of a game refuge on the national forest reserve of 30,000 acres in Tucker County was the principal matter decided upon at the conference of the State Game and Fish Commission held in Charleston last week. Thirty pairs of Hungarian quail are to be purchased ty the commission for breeding purposes. Fifty Virginia deer are also to be obtained to be liberated in different parts of West Virginia. A bounty of $100 was offrered by the commission for every panther killed in West Virginia.
Center Of Population
In 1810 the center of population in West Virginia was at Harper’s Ferry in Jefferson County. In 1820 it was at Wardensville in Hardy County. In 1830 it rested on the Canaan Mountains in Tucker County. In 1840 it was ten miles due south of Parkersburg. In 1850 it was on the south bank of the Little Kanawha River in Wood County.

Jury Finds Alger Hiss Guilty On Two Counts
The New York jury of eight women and four men returned their verdict finding Alger Hiss guilty on two counts of perjury to conceal the theft of State Department documents for a Soviet spy.

Tax On Margarine
The U. S. Senate last week passed a bill repealing the federal tax on oleomargarine, which became a law sixty-four years ago at the instance of dairy states which feared the competition of margarine with butter.

Ford Is Willing To Make Compromises With Democrats
President Ford has let it. be known he is willing to make some compromises with Democrats in Congress on his energy-economy program. He took that stand as governors of eight Northeastern states sued in U. S. District Court to try to block his new tariff on imported oil, which will raise retail prices of heating oil and gasoline.
Ford Gives Vietnam War Draft Evaders Another Month
President Ford has given Vietnam war draft evaders and deserters another month to sign up for “earned re-entry.” But pro-amnesty groups still spurn his program and are pushing Congress for full amnesty.
WVU’s Bob Huggins May Be Playing The Wrong Sport
The 6-3, 193-pound sophomore guard plays a little more physical basketball game than most back court players. “I like the contact,” says the WVU starting guard. “I weigh more than either of our starting forwards so I get to set up a few more picks and I’m frequently penetrating into the opponents’ defenses. Contact in basketball seems to improve my game.

Hambrick To Receive Alumni Recognition Award
The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, West Virginia University, will recognize students who have achieved superior academic records and honor alumna Margaret Clay Hambrick by presenting her with its Alumni Recognition Award. Hambrick has had an extremely successful career in the federal prison system. One of the many outstanding achievements she has received was being named the first female warden of an all-male correctional facility in the federal prison system.
Schoonover Sentences To 18 Months In Prison
Former State Senator Randy Schoonover was sentenced in United States District Court to 18 months in prison for extortion under the color of official right. In September, Schoonover pled guilty to obtaining $2,725 from Rodney L. LeRose, a prominent Summersville businessman in exchange for using his influence as a West Virginia Senator to obtain referrals for LeRose’s wrecker service from the West Virginia Turnpike.
Lady Spartans Romp Over Red Devils
The Lady Spartans raised their record to 9-5 with a Friday annihilation of the Oak Hill Red Devils. The final score was 87-54. Katie Kilcolin had a torrid shooting touch, scoring 36 for the home-standing Greenbrier East squad. Rebecca McDowell tallied 20 on the evening.
