FRANKFORD W.Va. (WVDN) – The Ladies of the Henning Church of God held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the church fellowship hall. Carole Spencer presided and Marty Burns led in prayer. The ladies provided the following report:
“Donna Scott brought us our devotion, ‘Senior Living Ministries, with courage for the days ahead,’ with scripture reference Joshua 1:9. The new year is a money making holiday especially for the ball drop in New York. Some do not want to recognize the passage of time. Some people have the tradition of opening the door and let the old year out and allowing the new year to come in. The new year is a new start. The Israelites were in the wilderness for forty years. God did not leave them or forsake them. Today is like that also. (Joshua 1:5) We should look forward to the new year. It can be joyful and trying at times. God is always with us and beside us. This year we should express gratitude for health and family, live with love and release all grudges, surrender to God’s timeline, be humble and kind in relationships, make the most of your lives, show love to family, check priorities and live the way God would have you to live, hope in God’s promises, set goals loosely, and let God guide us.
“Barb Seldomridge presented the missionary education report about Mike and Miketa Boyle who are missionaries in Japan. They are involved in Bible ministry and English language classes at Hagiyama Church of God in Tokyo. Mike grew up in Michigan and his family was very involved in their church. Miketa is from Japan and her parents were missionaries there. They met in Japan when Mike was helping to teach English there. They were married in 1994. They moved back to the United States so Mike could get a master’s degree in teaching English. They moved back to Japan in 2003 and began a Bible/English ministry at the Hagiyama Church of God. They are both deeply involved in the ministry of this church and have seen students come to Christ and unbelievers hear the message of Christ. They ask for continued prayer for their mission and work.
“Jamie Harvey gave the treasurer’s report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes.
“Carole thanked Angie for delivering the food pantry items to Renick and Williamsburg. Both pantries were very appreciative. The group is serving the Maxwelton Ruritans on January 23. The dates of the yard sales were tentatively set on May 17 and September 13. These dates may be changed if scheduling conflicts occur.”
The next meeting is on February 11 and Cindy Fleshman dismissed in prayer.
Attending were Angie Scott, Barb Seldomridge, Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Donna Scott, Fran Spencer, Jamie Harvey, Joan Vance, Marty Burns, Patty Owens and Pauline Perkins.
