LINCOLN COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – The West Virginia State Police have provided an update on the shooting and kidnapping investigation in Lincoln County.
ORIGINAL STORY:
“On Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, TPR J.D. Reedy responded to a possible shooting and kidnapping at Lower 2 Mile Creek Rd in West Hamlin, Lincoln County, WV. The suspect, Derek Orme, fired multiple rounds into a truck with occupants. The suspect is a 37-year-old white male from Huntington, WV. The suspect then took the victim, Chelcia Orme, out of the vehicle against her will and left the scene. The victim is a 33-year-old white female from Huntington, WV. The suspect and victim are married. Troopers searched multiple areas in Lincoln and Cabell counties with negative results. Troopers are looking for a vehicle that appears to be a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado regular cab, red in color, unknown license plate. Warrants have been obtained for the suspect for 3 counts of Wanton Endangerment, 1 count of kidnapping, and felony destruction of property. The suspect has been entered into NCIC as wanted. The victim has been entered into NCIC as abducted.”

“On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at approximately 3:30 pm, members of the Kentucky State Police located the victim unharmed at a residence in Grayson Kentucky through the assistance of WVIX. The suspect fled the scene on foot. Kentucky State Police advised a search for the suspect was being conducted.
“On Thursday, January 16, 2025, the suspect, Derek Orme, was apprehended in Cabell County, WV without incident. He was processed and transported to the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, WV to await arraignment.”
