ELKINS, W.Va. (WVDN) – January 14, 2024 – Monongahela National Forest fire officials are planning to burn natural debris piles at Blue Bend Campground beginning Wednesday, January 15. The burn is expected to be completed in one day.
The burn location will be in Blue Bend Campground off State Route 16, near Alvon, West Virginia. Signs will be posted on roads near the burn areas. There will not be a closure of any roads. Residents and forest visitors may see and smell smoke.
The U.S. Forest Service burns piles of woody debris in an effort of reducing hazardous fuels.
