FAIRLEA- Last week, two Greenbrier East Spartan football players were recognized to the honorable mention all-state team.
Quarterback Brody Hamric was selected after throwing for 1,221 yards and 14 TDs. He also added 72 yards rushing. The junior got injured in the season opener and though he continued to play through it over the next several weeks, he missed the final two games of the season.
Keshawn Bland also earned a spot on the honorable mention team. Bland had a big year from his linebacker position and led the Spartans in tackles with 119. He recovered two fumbles and intercepted a pass as well.
Both players are underclassmen and will give the Spartans two experienced players to build around next season.
