WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – The West Virginia School Building Authority (WVSBA) has awarded $14 million in Needs-Based Grant funding to White Sulphur Springs Elementary School (WSSE) for a significant renovation and addition project. This transformative initiative addresses critical safety, security, and educational space requirements while enhancing energy efficiency and easing long-term maintenance efforts. The comprehensive project will focus on:
- Creating a Secure and Accessible School Entrance: Existing spaces will be reconfigured to develop a secure, clearly defined main entrance.
- Improving Traffic Flow and Safety: New safe drop-off and loading zones for buses and parents will be established.
- Expanding Facilities for Educational Excellence: Construction of a multipurpose room addition will provide a safe and appropriate space for curriculum delivery, assemblies, and community engagement.
- Building a Dedicated Administrative Area: A new administrative office suite will include spaces for student counseling, nursing, and other essential services.
- Increasing Maintenance Efficiencies: HVAC and electrical upgrades, window replacement, new roofing, and restroom improvements will be implemented.
- Dedicated Staff Parking: Parking solutions will be developed to address current challenges.
