MATHENY W.Va. (WVDN) – Police responded to a shooting complaint in Matheny on Dec. 14. One victim was found with a gunshot wound and one woman was arrested. The West Virginia State Police released the following information:

“On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Cpl M.C. Shifflette responded to Heron Street in Matheny, Wyoming County, WV for a shooting complaint. Cpl. Shifflette arrived on scene, observed Troy Morgan, 38-year-old male from Matheny, WV, with a single gunshot wound to his upper left thigh. Cpl. Shifflette applied life saving techniques by application of a tourniquet. Cpl. Shifflette then investigated and arrested Rhonda Goins, 62-year-old female from Matheny, WV. Rhonda Goins was charged with Malicious Wounding and Possession of Firearm by Prohibited Person and released on a $10,000.00 bond. Troy Morgan was treated for his injuries and released from medical care. West Virginia State Police Crime Scene Response Team D responded and processed the crime scene.”
