RONCEVERTE W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at approximately 11:21 a.m., police received a complaint through Greenbrier County EOC. It was in reference to a theft that had occurred in Ronceverte. Greenbrier EOC advised officers that the victim stated someone had broken into their outbuilding and stolen a motorized scooter. Upon arriving at the address, the victim advised police that between 5 and 6 a.m., someone broke the lock off the outbuilding and stole a motorized scooter valued at $500.
The victim told officers he had a trail camera set up that captured footage of a vehicle and a man. Upon viewing the footage, the trooper viewed a Buick LeSabre with a white door that was different in color from the rest of the vehicle. According to the criminal complaint, the trooper has seen this same vehicle in different places throughout Greenbrier County. The officer then passed around pictures of the vehicle to other law enforcement officers in the area. An officer in Union advised him that the car in question was seen parked at the Nickells Trailer Park in Pickaway, in Monroe County.
The investigating officer was advised that Wesley Todd Holliday, 34, was the driver of the vehicle and that he was able to make contact with the owner, Justin Redifer. According to the criminal complaint, Holliday and Redifer live in the same trailer park, Nickells Trailer Park, and police were able to make contact with both individuals. While making a walk-through of the property, an electric scooter was reportedly observed sitting on the porch matching the description provided of the stolen one. The officer obtained statements from both Redifer and Holliday. The criminal complaint states that Redifer advised that the scooter wasn’t there yesterday, but when he came out of the residence around 8 a.m., Holliday was working on the scooter.
Holliday allegedly told the officer he had been home all night, but upon investigation, it was allegedly found out he had not arrived home until early that morning.
Redifer reportedly said that the Buick LeSabre wasn’t in the driveway earlier in the morning. Police were advised the vehicle was caught at Adwell Cemetery Rd. at approximately 5:22 a.m. along with a male dressed in camouflage wearing square-toe cowboy boots and glasses. Police were able to locate the exact camouflage and boots and that they did belong to Wesley Holliday, according to the criminal complaint. The officer placed Holliday under arrest for transferring and receiving stolen property and other charges. The motorized scooter was seized and taken to the WVSP Union Detachment.
Holliday was arrested and booked into Southern Regional Jail on Dec. 3. His bail is set at $2,000 for charges in Monroe County and $5,000 for charges in Greenbrier County.
