LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – We are thrilled to announce the incredible success of the West Virginia Daily News Toy Drive to benefit the Children’s Home Society. Thanks to the generous contributions from our community, we not only met our goal but exceeded it, bringing joy to countless children this holiday season. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for each toy donated. This represents a gesture of kindness and compassion. The toys were picked up at the West Virginia Daily News office, by the Children’s Home Society staff on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
This year we set a goal of collecting 100 toys, and we surpassed that goal by collecting over 150 toys! We received a wide variety of items, from plush animals and educational games to books and art supplies; this ensures that children of all ages will have something special to look forward to under their tree on Christmas. The toys will be distributed to local families in need, ensuring that every child experiences the magic of the holidays.
Mary Carr from Children’s Home Society said last year they helped over 400 individual children in the community. The need is even greater this year. There are always last-minute unexpected needs like housefires, children being removed from the home just before the holidays they’ve even had to be out shopping on Christmas Eve. They are very thankful to us and the community for our contribution this year.
Thank you once again to everyone who contributed in any way. I would like to extend a special thank you to Ronceverte Baptist Church BYF Group for helping with the toy drive this year. We are so grateful to our friends and neighbors for their generosity this holiday season, and we couldn’t be more proud to serve this wonderful community. Your generosity and support exemplify the spirit of giving that makes our community so special. Together, we have made a meaningful impact.
