CHARMCO W.Va. (WVDN) – A Greenbrier County woman identified as Leigh Wolford of Rainelle, has been arrested following an incident that left one person with a stab wound.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a residence in Charmco on Nov. 27 in regards to a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers reportedly found the victim sitting in a vehicle in the driveway and were advised that Wolford was inside.
After officers entered the home, they allegedly found Wolford packing backpacks and talking on the phone. According to the criminal complaint, Wolford told whomever she was speaking to on the phone, “I have to go, I’m being arrested … probably malicious wounding. I stabbed [victim’s name].” At this point, Wolford was placed in hand restraints and put in an officer’s vehicle.
When asked where the knife was, Wolford allegedly told officers that it was in a bag in her room under some underwear. An officer recovered the knife which is described as being a black-handled knife, approximately 10 inches in length and in a black sheath.
The criminal complaint states that the victim provided a witness statement. The document reportedly details that the victim and their spouse arrived at the residence to pick up a trailer when Wolford came out and asked for an item that was supposedly in the vehicle. After telling Wolford they did not have the item, she allegedly accused the victim of stealing it and stated she would “cut” the victim. It was at this point, the victim was reportedly stabbed on the right side of the chest. The criminal complaint notes that the officer noted a stab wound approximately one-half inch in length on the victim’s chest.
No other information regarding the victim’s injury or what led up to the incident was immediately available.
Wolford is not listed as an inmate with the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation at the time of writing.
