CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today released a video message ahead of Thanksgiving to express gratitude for the many blessings offered to West Virginians and Americans and to thank servicemembers deployed overseas who are unable to celebrate with their families.
Full video transcript included below:
“Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It’s a time when we get together with our family and our friends, sometimes at somebody’s house, sometimes you go somewhere that everybody can gather.
“And it’s a time when we celebrate the many blessings that we are privileged to enjoy, both here in America and in our state of West Virginia.
“This Thanksgiving, I encourage all West Virginians to cherish the time that you get to spend with your loved ones and honor the memory of those no longer with us.
“I know for me, I think about the wonderful Thanksgiving dinners that mom and dad had for us with my dad’s extended families, and some of the funny stories, that we still tell—to this day—about, you know, the kids table and the adult table, and Uncle Paul wouldn’t stop talking, and all those fun things.
“And so never forget how lucky we are to live in the greatest state, in the greatest country in the world.
“I also ask that you keep those unable to be with their families, especially our service members deployed across the globe, in your thoughts and prayers.
“We owe those brave men and women so much for protecting us every day, and I’m so thankful for their dedication to our country.
“So, I am personally very grateful for my wonderful family and our great friends and the opportunity to serve you, my fellow West Virginians, in the United States Senate.
“So, have a very happy Thanksgiving.”
