LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – There is no better way to embrace the spirit of Christmas than to enjoy beautiful music of the season performed by the Greenbrier Valley Chorale. The ensemble’s annual holiday concert will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg.
The Chorale, comprised of 55 singers from across the Greenbrier Valley and beyond, is known for its broad-ranging repertoire and high-quality performances. Last summer, they were honored to be a part of the phenomenal production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame in collaboration with Greenbrier Valley Theater and Carnegie Hall. Barbara Wygal Lutz is the group’s artistic director, and Teresa Bryant is the accompanist.
The concert will feature both sacred and secular music, ranging from the deeply spiritual to the whimsical. The performance, which also will feature guest soloist Gabriel Champion and instrumentalists, will include a mix of long-time favorites like This Christmastide and new rhythmic and joyful pieces like A King is Born.
Chorale members will perform solos or in small groups on several selections, including In Dulci Jubilo, Gaudete, The Holidays Are Here and an evocative arrangement of The Huron Carol from Canada.
The audience will be invited to join in the men in singing a beloved carol woven into Night of Silence, and the women will reprise Mele Kalikimaka, a favorite from last year’s concert. These works and more will make for an afternoon guaranteed to kindle your Christmas spirit.
