FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – The grand opening of the Greenbrier Pregnancy Center was held this past weekend in Fairlea. Board members, staff, citizens and the Chamber of Commerce were all present to support opening a designated respite when faced with the challenges of pregnancies, post-natal care and more.
The non-profit organization location which is next to State Farm Insurance offices in Fairlea is a welcoming space fitted with private counseling rooms, a welcome desk, an ultrasound area, and a shopping area where earned credits can be utilized for diapers, formula, wipes, clothing, baby-room needs and much, much more. Donations can be received by calling or visiting the center at any of the avenues to follow.
“You” as the client, are the most important person who is made to feel that way by the care and concern of this incredible staff. The board is comprised of people who can be confidants or caring individuals who will take this important walk with you, such as president Amy Holbrook, vice president Pastor Sam McClung, secretary Ann Turley, treasurer Jeff Austin, male fatherhood counselor Jamie Fuda, Trey Ewing, Pastor Bobby McClinitc, Pastor Dean Brdlik and his wife, June Brdlik. The Center’s Executive Director is Jacquline Dudley.
Efforts of the volunteers will provide but are not limited to the following services for clients:
Pregnancy testing, ultrasound (sonogram) of the uterus with pictures and medical consultation by a qualified Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (physicians may be available soon for counsel, but the center is in no way a medical office), education on carrying the baby to term, the option of adoption, and the abortion risks (will not be performed or recommended), educational programs, personal and spiritual counsel, group meetings and Bible study, post-abortion counseling, supplies, equipment, and clothing for pregnancy and natal care, fatherhood programs, “earn while you learn” programs, referral agency options, and pre and post-natal care peer counseling and Biblical counseling.
The center’s mission statement in part is “a Christ-centered ministry, committed to upholding the sanctity of human life and sharing the love and hope of Jesus Christ through compassionate, nonjudgmental help to women and men in areas of pregnancy, post-abortion trauma and purity. We accomplish this with Biblical counseling, education, and free services and resources from conception through infant care.”
An amazing grand opening event was well received and emotionally charged, as many involved realized that months of hard work had finally, paid off. Albeit a faith-based ministry, a client does not need special monickers or labels. All are welcome regardless of religion or faith. The goal of the team is to provide a lull, breathing space, or reprieve from the heavinesses faced with a pregnancy, thoughts of abortion, and pre and post-natal care for both fathers and mothers.
The on-board ultrasound room will provide many with the sound of a precious heartbeat and that monumental first look at their child. A certified technician will be staffed from the beginning as well as volunteer physicians sometime in the future. From the moment you realize pregnancy, you will have a team of dedicated and devoted people to help you in any way you may need during the pregnancy, or after. Male counselors and staff are available for fathers as well.
You do not have to feel alone during or after this life event and the staff are ready to receive you. Post-abortion care and counseling, adoption services and resources are available as well. You will also find supporters out and about within the City having fundraisers, helping where they are needed. Keep an eye out for ways you can help the success of the center throughout the county.
A message sourced at the website states that, “Volunteers are always welcome. Needed are Bible-believing Christian men and women, who agree and uphold our Statement of Faith and who have a passion and desire to counsel, encourage, listen to, and assist young pregnant moms and dads in finding permanent housing, resources, education, and employment to be able to support their own families. Also needed are volunteers who can walk alongside and counsel those who have experienced abortion or who chose to have someone adopt their baby.”
