WHITE SULPHUR SPGS- On Sunday, Nov. 17, the Radford Highlanders faced off against Navy at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur.
In a historic battle that was the first ever women’s Division-1 game played inside Colonial Hall, Navy defeated Radford 78-73 in overtime.
Navy’s Kyah Smith stole the show as she poured in 26 points including going 5-7 from behind the 3-point line. Her teammate, Zanai Barnett-Gay did not shoot it well from the field (3-13) but got to the free throw line 17 times and connected on 16 of them and finished with 22 points.
Radford outshot Navy 44 percent to 32, but Navy made 10 threes on the night to the Highlanders eight.
Joi Williams led Radford with 19 points, Makayla Firebaugh had 15, and Taylor Napper netted 10.
The game went into overtime tied at 59-all.
Newly elected senator, current Governor, and Greenbrier owner Jim Justice, his wife, and Babydog watched the action from the baseline.
