ELKHORN W.Va. (WVDN) – One person has been arrested after allegedly setting fire to the Elkhorn Head-Start building. The West Virginia State Police released the following statement:
“On Monday, November 11, 2024, Trooper E. C. Nunn responded to a 911 call of a structure fire in the Elkhorn area of McDowell County with a suspicious individual seen leaving the scene. The suspect, later identified as 19 year old Anthony Bale Scott, set fire to the Elkhorn Head-start building. Anthony Scott left the area, but returned and set fire to a second building in the Elkhorn area.
“Trooper Nunn located Anthony Scott leaving the immediate area of the second fire.
“Further investigation confirmed Anthony Scott had set both fires. Anthony Scott was taken into custody and charged with two counts of 2nd Degree Arson. Trooper Nunn determined Anthony Scott traveled to the area from Michigan by train-hopping. This investigation remains active and ongoing.”
