As the holiday season approaches, I want to extend a personal invitation to you and your loved ones to experience the magic of Charleston. Our vibrant capital city transforms into a holiday destination like no other, filled with cheer, family fun and lasting memories.
Last year, I had the privilege of working with the Charleston Dirty Birds and other community leaders to launch the first-ever Salango Law Dirty Birds Light the Night—West Virginia’s largest and most spectacular winter light festival. What began as a vision of bringing joy to our community has blossomed into something truly special.
This year, from November 15 through January 1, GoMart Ballpark will again be aglow with more than 2.5 million lights, choreographed to your favorite holiday music. I’m thrilled to announce some exciting new attractions, including the round up amusement park ride, ice bumper cars, an expanded array of inflatables and a classic carousel—ensuring even more fun for all ages! Returning favorites like the holiday train, ice skating, the iconic Ferris wheel and of course, pictures with Santa will also be back.
Last year, we welcomed over 120,000 visitors from 42 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and even Canada. It was incredible to see so many families making memories right here in Charleston, and I’m proud to say that Salango Law is helping make this wonderful event a reality once again. Our goal remains simple: to give West Virginians and visitors alike a setting to celebrate the holidays in a way that brings people together.
I encourage you to plan a day trip or spend a weekend in our city this holiday season. Take in the sights of the Salango Law Light the Night, explore Holly Jolly Brawley downtown and enjoy a meal at one of our many outstanding local restaurants. Whether you’re here for the weekend or just for an evening, Charleston offers the perfect backdrop for your holiday celebrations.
Charleston has truly become a destination for holiday tourism—it’s like living in a Hallmark movie! Let’s make this season another one to remember. Come join us and be a part of the magic in our beautiful capital city.
