Jim Justice says he is not running for the Senate for himself but that he is running for you. Justice was a successful businessman before he became governor and began devoting his time to running the state for you instead of taking care of his business empire.
It’s time for the citizens of West Virginia to stop being so demanding of Justice’s time and allow him to devote his time to doing what he does best, running his business.
Jim has a hard time getting around and needs to sit and rest often and we as citizens must take this into consideration when we contemplate sending him to Washington. The U.S. Senate is very demanding physically, a Senator on a daily basis must be able to walk from building to building, from the Senate office buildings to the Capitol, up and down stairs and on elevators, then down to the train that transports lawmakers to the Capitol to attend meetings and vote. There is a lot of running and dashing around to accomplish the task of being a Senator and I don’t think Mr Justice and his supporters are taking this into consideration.
As governor Justice has lived at his home in Lewisburg instead of at the governor’s mansion in Charleston. He cannot be afforded that luxury if he is elected to the Senate. The job of representing our state in Washington is far to big and the responsibilities are too great to not devote full time it.
Justice’s age, he is 73, must be taken into consideration also. Age takes a toll on all of us and we should not be asking Jim to use his advanced years fighting for us when he has so much to do for himself, his family, and his business.
Glenn Elliott who is 52 is also running for Senate. He is a Democrat but don’t let that scare you, Justice was first elected as a Democrat and later changed his party affiliation to Republican. Elliott was once an aide to Senator Robert Byrd and Mayor of the City of Wheeling for 8 years. Elliott who is an attorney is a logical alternative candidate to Justice, they both want to work for the citizens of West Virginia and have the state’s best interests at heart.
