LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – A Public Hearing was held before the Greenbrier County Commission Meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The meeting was to be brought before the public, Altice having the approval to operate a television cable system within Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
Clark Barnes with Orion Strategies was there representing Optimum. It was brought up to change the time of the contract from 10 years to 5. Motion passed to accept pending inspection of the attorneys.
The regular session of the Greenbrier County Commission opened with the prelude and pledge. The minutes from the last meeting were approved.
The settlement of 6 estates was approved. Exonerations, splits and impropers passed unanimously.
Under arts and recs transfers, the town of Renick’s 2024 Freedom Festival, and the Williamsburg Fire Department 2024 -2025 Down Home Festival received transfers. A fee was paid to the Meadow River Trail protection fee West Virginia NPDES permit.
Under budget revisions, law enforcement had overtime reimbursement.
Seabridge Acquisitions LLC or Altice LLC operating under the name of Optimum petitioned for renewal of their agreement to operate a cable system in Greenbrier County. Motion passed
A motion passed to move forward with a grant application for 2025-2026 records management and presentation. The grant will be to purchase new filling cabinets and the grant is through the WV Culture and History Management Program.
It was voted to table the tower assistance fund grant for submission to the Public Service Commission. It was determined the commission needed to wait on specific numbers to vote on the matter.
It was approved to put Sara Woody in the vacant seat on the Greenbrier County Solid Waste Authority. The current person has served for over 30 years and is stepping down. The Commission wishes to thank Mr Elsworth for his service. The board of health is a seat represented by the commission. The Commission welcomed Woody to the position.
Approval was given to multiple separations from the Greenbrier County 911 Center. First is Audriana Mace employed in 2020 separation effective Oct. 11. Next was Monica Jones. Hired June 26, 2011, separation effective Oct. 14. Last is Ariel Ellis. Hired Sept. 10, separation effective Oct. 16.
