Joseph Bruce Decker, born on January 11, 1949, in Charleston, WV, passed away, surrounded by the love of his family.
He grew up on the west side of Charleston, something he and his dearest friends were always proud to tell everyone. A graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, Bruce continued his education at Marshall University, before dedicating over 30 years of service to the Anthony Correctional Center in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
Bruce was a man of simple joys and deep passions. He had a true love for the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or enjoying a ride on his motorcycle. His affection for animals, especially his beloved cats, reflected his kind and gentle nature.
He is survived by his two children, Jennifer (James) Wegmann of Fruitland Park, FL, Blaine (Stephanie) Decker of North Augusta, SC; and three beautiful granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his sister, Candace Huffman; and his parents, Nelda Jean and Harry Joe Decker.
Bruce’s heart of gold and his readiness to help others will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. In his passing, Bruce leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and a love for life’s simple pleasures. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
