LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Greenbrier Valley Airport is pleased to announce that it has secured $2.8 million in federal funding for significant infrastructure improvements and expansion. The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) has approved the airport’s application under its Economic Adjustment Assistance Program. The total project amount of $3.5 million includes a $700,000 local investment.
This landmark project shows EDA’s commitment to fulfilling their mission to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness and preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy.
The Project includes:
– Construction of ten new T hangars, each measuring 1,135 square feet
– Building of a 550-square-foot meeting room and bathroom facilities
– Installation of approximately 1,800 linear feet of water line
– Addition of 3,500 linear feet of sewer line

The new facilities, particularly the T-Hangars and training center, are expected to attract more aviation enthusiasts and businesses to the area, fostering job creation and economic development.
This project aligns with the airport’s long-term growth vision and commitment to serving the Greenbrier Valley community. Construction is slated to begin in Spring 2025, with an estimated completion date of Spring 2026 Region 4 Planning and Development Council assisted with the Airport’s grant application process and was instrumental in laying the groundwork for a successful award.
