CHARLESTON W.Va. (WVDN) — West Virginia Attorney General and Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Patrick Morrisey has officially accepted an invitation to debate Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Williams. The debate, hosted by MetroNews and moderated by Hoppy Kercheval, will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
“I’m excited for the chance to speak directly to the people of West Virginia and share my plans for improving our state,” said Morrisey. “This debate will be an important opportunity to highlight our proposals to cut taxes, create jobs, improve education, and help West Virginia compete better against the states we touch.”
Morrisey’s campaign has centered around delivering real results that will benefit working families across the state. His platform includes drastically reducing the state income tax, fostering job growth, and restoring excellence in education by empowering parents and expanding the Hope Scholarship.
“Patrick has spent years fighting for the people of West Virginia, standing up to federal overreach, cutting red tape, and delivering results.” Said Jonathan Ewing, Morrisey’s campaign manager.
Ewing added, “In this debate, voters will see the clear choice between a proven leader in Patrick Morrisey and a candidate who would bring more of the same liberal tax-and-spend policies that have driven people out of West Virginia.”
Morrisey’s record as Attorney General includes significant achievements, such as taking on the opioid crisis, enforcing our laws fairly, and pushing back against excessive government regulations to protect West Virginia jobs. His experience and commitment to conservative principles position him as the leader West Virginia needs to secure a brighter future.
The event will be broadcast on statewide radio on MetroNews stations and video streamed on the MetroNews website. Other TV stations in the state are being offered the opportunity to either air the debate or offer the video stream.
