WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) -White Sulphur Lions welcomed Abigail Spangler Monday at their meeting, who spoke about the purpose and future plans for Wellspring of Greenbrier, a non-profit dedicated to providing food, clothing, and other life essentials to unhoused and transient populations.

Wellspring’s Day Haven, located in Rupert (524 Nicholas Street), provides showers, laundry, and light refreshments on a first-come, first-served basis at no cost. They provide a safe inviting environment and some meals. They are open four days a week, Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They also facilitate various programs throughout the year, all focused on instilling hope and meeting the practical needs of our community. A food pantry is held twice a month. Area churches and organizations help provide food, cleaning products and volunteers for the center.

Spangler says she and her husband, Josiah (both registered nurses who serve as leaders of Wellspring) are developing a holistic approach to help navigate the healthcare system. They serve approximately 1000 people each month and are always looking for more volunteers for their non-profit. If you are interested, please contact them at 304-392-2095.

WSS Lions meet every second and fourth Monday in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 7 p.m. Please join them anytime to learn about other ways they serve the community.
