Elizabeth “Betty” Turner
Elizabeth “Betty” Turner, 88, of White Sulphur Springs, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.
She was born April 30, 1936, in White Sulphur Springs. She was the oldest daughter of Wyatt Hill Alderman and Kathleen Edna Wickline.
Betty was a graduate of the Class of 1955, White Sulphur Springs High School, and had two years of nursing.
Mom’s spoken words on July 1, 2024, were, “Thank you, Lord, you have given me a good life. I’ve had a good life on earth. Time to come get me. Put my feet on the floor.”
Betty found her passion helping others in health services at Greenbrier Center and at Pinecrest Hospital in Beckley. Once retired, she spent many years working at Greenbrier State Forest. She was a member of Eakle Chapel Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in the Ladies Aide.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Turner; a daughter, Karen Argyrakis; three sisters, Beatrice Alderman, Cynthia Kelly, and Mary Nemcik; and a brother, Pete Alderman.
She is survived by her son, John (Melanie) Argyrakis; daughter, Bobbie (James) Keys; sister, Melissa Brock; grandchildren, Leah Argyrakis, Uriah, Mikaela, and Nick Argyrakis, and Will Roark. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Eakle Chapel United Methodist Church, White Sulphur Springs, with Pastor Steve Grimes officiating and Pastor John Kelly assisting. Burial will follow in Mapledale Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.
The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to the Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
