Charlotte A. McCracken
Charlotte A. McCracken, age 83, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at her residence. She was born June 23, 1940, in Wilmington, DE, to the late Murdoc Lewis and Mildred (née Millman) Murchison.
Charlotte graduated from A.I. Dupont High School, Class of ‘58, and matriculated from Maryville College with a B.S. in Education, Class of ‘62; she would spend 23 years in public education as a second grade school teacher in Dover, DE. Following her retirement, Charlotte relocated to the mountains of Lewisburg, WV, and was an active member of Graystone Baptist Church. She would later relocate to Fort Wayne and was active in the Towne House Retirement Community.
Charlotte is survived by her son, Edward Lewis (Deborah) Black of Auburn, IN; grandson, Cody Wynn (Stacey) Chaney of Opelika, AL; sister-in-law, Linda P. Murchison of Milton, DE; nephew, Scott L. (Arleen) Murchison of Dover, DE; niece, Denise (Jeff) Ferguson of Milton, DE; great-nephews, Alex (Ruth Anne) Ferguson, Brian (Leanne) Ferguson of Severn, MD; great-grand-nieces and nephews, Eve Ferguson, Emilia Ferguson, and Oliver Ferguson.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Betty P. Murchison of Glen Mills, PA; and brother, Richard Lewis Murchison of Lewisburg, WV.
Graveside Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg, WV, with Pastor Youel Altizer officiating. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, June 11, at Towne House Retirement Community Chapel in Fort Wayne, IN.
