WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (WVDN) — The resilient dandelion, often dismissed as a mere weed, takes center stage in the heart of West Virginia as the 2024 Dandelion Festival kicks off in White Sulphur Springs. Sponsored by WSS Main Street and the City of White Sulphur Springs, the festival pays homage to the tenacity of this unassuming flower that defiantly thrives amidst adversity.

The festival, set to take place May 24 to 26, boasts a packed schedule of events designed to entertain, inspire and celebrate the region’s natural beauty. From art shows to live music, races and parades, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The festivities kick off on Friday, May 24, with vendors and local shopping from 3 to 8 p.m. Then, an art show opens at the White Sulphur Springs Public Library from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring wine, cheese and music by Leah Trent. The evening continues from 8 until 10 p.m. with live music by Allan Dale Sizemore & The Lost Souls at The Schoolhouse Hotel Lawn.

Saturday, May 25, promises excitement with the Dandelion Dreams Chase, where racers gather at The Schoolhouse Hotel Lawn for a thrilling race. For the little ones, there’s the Children’s Fishing Derby at 8 a.m. sponsored by the National Fish Hatchery and WSS Rotary. The day unfolds with more live music, an art show exhibit, a toddler pageant, and various activities along Main Street, including a cruise-in and an RC car race. The evening crescendos with the Dandy Legs Contest and live music by the Thomas Taylor Band, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

On Sunday, May 26, the festival concludes with a Veterans Memorial Ceremony, live gospel music, and the highlight of the day, the West Virginia Dandelion Festival Parade.

Throughout the festival, families can enjoy the Kids Zone Activities provided by WV Inflatables and assorted vendors at Midland Trail Park.

The main stage, located outdoors at 697 Main Street E, adjacent to Midland Trail Park, will host various performances and events throughout the weekend.

Don’t miss out on this celebration of nature’s resilience and the vibrant spirit of West Virginia’s dandelions at the 2024 WV Dandelion Festival in White Sulphur Springs.
