GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – One man has been arrested in Greenbrier County following a traffic stop. Greenbrier County Chief Deputy Bart Baker released the following statement:

“On Monday, March 11, 2024, a traffic stop was conducted by Deputy Herman Rodriguez, of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department.

“Controlled substances were found inside the vehicle during a subsequent search and the substance would test positive for fentanyl. Follow-up investigation would indicate the individual responsible for the delivery of that controlled substance.

“A warrant for delivery of a controlled substance was obtained for James Matthew Walkup, age 47, of Greenbrier County. He was arrested pursuant to the warrant on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, and transported to the Southern Regional Jail in Beaver, WV.

“James Walkup had previously been arrested for delivery of a controlled substance in January of 2024 and was out on bond for that offense at the time of his arrest on March 12, 2024.

“Deputy Rodriguez is the investigating officer.”
