GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – This is one time of the year that the world will slow down a little and remember the sacrifices made by men and women everywhere. The old adage by Korean War Veteran Howard William Osterkamp of Ohio, still rings true to this day; “All gave some. Some gave all.”
In Greenbrier County, citizens honor local veterans in many ways throughout the year, such as White Sulphur Springs’ ‘‘Roads of Honor’ banners and fishing tournaments. You can see the treasured faces of veterans every time you drive through town. This tribute was spearheaded by veteran Richard Streck in 2017. Veteran Butch Moran started helping Richard in the early part of 2018. Bo Belshee also started helping them with the computer/ordering part of the project. There are currently 250 plus banners in White Sulphur Springs.
