LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – The Gesundheit! Institute recently spent the afternoon at Davis Stuart to prove that laughter was the best form of therapy. The legendary founder of the institute, Patch Adams, and his clowns kept residents entertained with tricks, jokes, activities, and most importantly, laughs.

The Gesundheit! Institute, a non-profit healthcare organization, is a project in holistic medical care based on the belief that one cannot separate the health of the individual from the health of the family, community, society, and the world. Their mission is to reframe and reclaim the concept of “hospital.”

Davis Stuart is a therapeutic residential facility for adolescents 12-18 years of age and operates as a private non-profit organization. Davis Stuart has been a staple in the community for over 100 years and is grateful for the volunteer partnerships offered. The main campus is located in Lewisburg. There are also three community-based group homes in Bluefield, Maxwelton, and Princeton.

For more information or to find ways to help, please visit the website at www.davisstuart.org or call the main office at 304-647-5577.
