LEWISBURG, WV- As if a soccer state title, an honorable mention all-state basketball selection, the Bimbo Coles award and the WV Daily News Athlete of the Year award was not enough, Greenbrier East’s Adam Seams is adding a big piece of hardware to finish off his trophy cabinet.
The recently graduated senior found out this morning, Friday, June 16 that he is the Gatorade WV Soccer Player of the Year, which is given to the best soccer player in the state.
Seams was a 3-time first team all-state selection and maintained a 4.15 GPA in the classroom. He finished his senior soccer season with 14 goals and eight assists.
Seams had this to say about the prestigious award:
“It’s truly amazing to get have this honor to end such a special high school journey. First and foremost, I want to thank God for the blessings and abilities he has given me to do what I love to do. Secondly, I want to thank my friends and family who have pushed and supported for the past 15 years to be great. Then, I’d love to thank my teammates and coaches. Without them none of my individual awards are possible. There’s 11 of us on the field, so in my eyes this award goes to them as well and it’s another banner we have up in the school representing the special group of young men we had. Lastly, a thanks to the community for all of the support the past four years. They were always rooting us on in the highs and lows, as well as a special thanks to the Daily News and Brandon Baker for always wanting to get things out for us,” Seams said.
